It is the 61st unit called "Royal Engine" manufactured as a locomotive dedicated to towing a train. It is modeled on the figure after it was inherited by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Unlike other EF58 types, the special shapes unique to the special train machine are reproduced, such as the decorative belt attached from the front to the side, the name tag insert of the engineer in charge, and the hole in the stop position reference plate. In October 2022, the commemorative 150th anniversary of the opening of the railway, the permanent exhibition at the Railway Museum will start, and it is a popular electric locomotive from many railway fans.
